Brenda Cook MA
Consultant
Brenda is an experienced consultant, executive coach and facilitator with extensive experience within the health service, local government and further education. Brenda has specialist expertise of involving the public and other stakeholders in influencing effective service development, within health and other public sector services. Brenda has experience of governance and has developed and trained executives and non executive members in health and local government settings.
In her role within the Dept of Health she enabled non-executive directors to take up a more strategic role in delivering their statutory Board objectives. She has also consulted to Primary Care Trusts to support them in taking up their patient and public influence roles within the Project Board. Brenda has delivered training and support to executives and elected members in local authorities including Excellence in Chairing Skills and Developing Partnership Working. She is also an executive coach with Principals of Further Education Colleges for the Centre for Excellence in Leadership Principals Qualifying Programme.
She is a qualified Myers Briggs Type Indicator practitioner and process consultant and has the Tavistock Certificate in Advanced Process Consultancy. Brenda has previously worked for the Department of Health, the Commission for Patient and Public Involvement in Health, and a number of local authorities in both strategic and operational roles. Brenda led a health and environmental promotion team within a local authority and has taken an active role in national projects for developing core skills in consumer education, health education and accident prevention. She is also the author of a series of national guides on implementing the scrutiny of health services by local authorities, published by the Centre for Public Scrutiny.
